V:Visitors overstaying their welcome?
I’m not quite sure what I expected from this new iteration, but whatever it was I’m not getting it.
Two episodes deep and I’m a bit worried… There doesn’t seem to be any substance to ABC’s new show. It feels very predictable and bland. Alien conspiracy, sub-par acting, melodramatic secret keeping… blah blah blah…
All too often new shows tease you with hope and big hype, then just dish out the regular formula and I’m no longer willing to excuse it. After watching the second episode, I don’t know how much longer this will be a watch immediately show. No matter what it will stay on the DVR’s record schedule, but as for the urge to check it out immediately, that seems like it will fade quickly…
If you missed the second episode, don’t worry, nothing happened… Others may tell you… actually I don’t know what they could say to argue against me, because nothing really happened and I’m afraid that may be ABC’s formula to this show. I predict that each week something utterly predictable will happen and that is supposed to be the gripping part… then the show will be canceled.. actually it probably won’t get the axe because ABC has a knack for not knowing good programming (enter the case of Defying Gravity being canceled)
The same formula applies to ABC’s Thursday Night supposed hit, Flash Forward. Yeah we are all still watching, but really.. for how long… nothing is happening and it all feels like filler. In Flash Forward, I suppose the reason to keep watching is to find out how and why the flash forward happened and if the flashes we saw will come true. The problem here is again, it all feels like filler and don’t get me started on the gaps and holes in the concept… Only Back to the Future is allowed to mess up timelines… On the up side, unlike V, Flash Forward at it’s core is thought provoking (not every episode but the overall pondering)
ABC, I am getting bored. However I am not an idiot and will continue to give these two shows a chance to grow, but let’s face it… this is thin ice.
P.S. I still can’t remember a single character’s name from either show….
